Rotary Club of Pune Shivajinagar

 

Rotary Club of Pune Shivajinagar ( RCPS ) was formed in 1984 with 10 Charter members. Club was formed as result of club extention activity undertaken by Rotary Club of Pune West. RC-Pune Shivajinagar  received charter on 23rd February 1985.

Members from RC Pune Shivajinagar have remained in forefront to undertake district responsibilities and also to provide district leadership.

  • PDG Mukund Abhyankar has provided District Leadership 1990-91
  • DGE Deepak Shikarpur provided District leadership during 2013-14.
  • Our past presidents & senior club members are involved at various district  level work across avenues & committees.

RC-Pune Shivajinagar is a stabilized & yet vibrant club balancing members assimilation with innovative value adding and entertaining programs, professionaly planning and executing effective service projects for the community.

A club which truely believes in service through friendship and fellowship !

Today, RC-Pune Shivajinagar is one of the reputed clubs in Rotary District 3131.


MEMBERSHIP & GROWTH

The Club believes in sustainable membership growth. The club members are from diverse fields like industrial manufacturing, information technology, medicine, banking and finance, consulting, entrepreneurship, medicine development and many more.

Our club started a new club Rotary Club of Pune Ganeshkhind on 23rd May 1990.

Our club started a new club R C Pune Chandani Chowk, on 28/06/2008. which later merged into R.C. Pune Deccan Gymkhana from 1/7/11.

HONORARY ROTARY MEMBERS

The club has had the privilege of having outstanding personalities as its Honorary members - noted industrialists, social worker, renowned artists and philanthropists each year.

SERVICE PROJECTS :


A. MATCHING GRANT & GLOBAL GRANT PROJECTS:

The club has been implementing  matching grant / global projects year after years. To name a few club has provided following -

 -Bus to Blind Girls' School,

 -Laboratory, Library, Benches and other equipment to schools .

 -Toilet Blocks for Schools

 -Medical Ambulance - Van to Rural Health Centers

 -Bore-well, water pumps & water filters for drinking water at rural schools

 -Distance Education Program Equipment for rural schools

- Infrastructural support to Orphanage

 

B. Pioneering projects

RC-Pune Shivajinagar have pioneering following unique projects.Each of these projects have created a positive impact  with consistent implementations for over 10 years.

1. Rotary Industrial Fair:
The club organized the Rotary Industrial Fair every two years, an exhibition which provided a  platform to industries in and around Pune to promote their products. Eight such exhibitions were successfully held in the past.

2. Rotary Shivajinagar's Ekankika Spardha:
The club organizes assimilation programs like the Ekankika Spardha. This is "One act play competition" held among-st Rotary Clubs from District 3131. This competition has been held for last 12 years. Apart from the assimilation it achieves across various Rotary clubs, the competition is also is known to address various social issues.

Almost 15-20 clubs participate in this competition every year.
The competition is held across a week. Eminent theater personalities have graced the stage as Chief Guest for this event inauguration as well as award distribution.

C. Other SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS..

RCPS has over the years been implementing a number of projects of significance and relevance to the community. Some of these projects include -

Cycle Bharari - Donation of cycles to needy girl students in rural area

Shivamuth - Support to Eklavya Nyas providing shelter to street children and children of sex workers. 2021 will be the fifth consicutive year of this project.

Sarthak Seva Sangh- Support is extended by the club. 2021 will be the fifth consicutive year of this project.

Red Dot Awareness program - Creating awareness amongst citizens of Pune city about Sanitary Waste Disposal

Chartered Rotary Community Corps in Nanegaon in April 2018

-Cataract surgery camps

 -Deformity corrective surgeries

 -Health Lecture series by renowned doctors,

 -Anemia detection camps for women

 -Rubella Vaccination for School Girls

 -Vaccination & mask distribution Support during city's fight against swine-flue

 -Pulse polio immunization at Bhabha Hospital, Police Line & surrounding areas

 -Blood Donation Drives

 -Eye Donation Drives

 -Tree plantations along with putting up water reservoirs on hills

 -Providing vocational training to needy Students & Women

 -Career counseling to students

 -Support during natural calamities like flood, earthquakes & tsunami.

 -Sponsoring  2 Rotaract Clubs at Educational Institutes

 -Sponsoring  2 Interact Clubs at schools for challenged students

 -Traffic Signal Installation support & Vehicle Pollution Check up drives

 -Vocational Trainings for lady occupants of Yerawada Central Jail

 -Music Appreciation Programs

 -Workshop on drama-acting 

 - Teacher's Awards

 - Best Scientist Award

 - Prof D.B. Deodhar Award for Young Budding Cricketeer

Our club believes in involvement of local community in service projects. We encourage partnerships with NGOs working at grass root level in area of project focus. These NGOs and experts from local community become our Partners in Service. Club also looks to compliment good work of local authorities to serve the community.

With Club Ledership Program ( CLP ) and Strategic Planning Committee ( SPC ) getting in place, current and future club leaders are collectively committing themselves to plan further more impact making & effective projects to be sustained across number of years.


INTERNATIONAL:

Club member has visited Africa to perform polio corrective surgeries as Rotary Volunteers

Club has 9 Foundation Aluni having participated in GSE / RYE members.

Club has supported participants  in RYE .

Our club members have lead District GSE teams two times.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION:

Club members has supported this activity by extending financial support to Adhik Kadam - working  at Kashmir. With our club members having expertise in counselling activity, club has a focus to plan counselling activities for youth and other social members for conflict resolution in community.
 

Club has a focus on New Generation & a number of youth focused activities are undertaken across various service avenues. Club conducts and gives Rotary Youth Leadership Awards  at Youth event held every year RYLA.


Club has recognized society members for their vocational excellence by felicitating them with Vocational Excellence Awards.
