On 5th March our club donated 41 cycles to the girl students living far away from school at ZP School Vadaki. With this we donated 201cycles in this year. This was our good PI project. Each cycle carries Rotary club of Pune shivajinagar's name and Rotary Logo. Newspapers took note of this project. RCP Shivajinagar has been working consistently for uplift of underpriveleged children in rural areas. A little over a year back , some members who visited rurl schools realised that often adolescent girls drop out due to insecurity of travelling to school . They often have to walk 3 to 5 km to reach school. That time members decided to gift cycles to such rural school girls. It began with a small donation of four cycles initially . This number swelled to 205 in 2015-16. And already 2016-17 is showing promise of the CYCLEBHARARI continuing unabated, what with the first day of the Rotary year being celebrated with donation of 66 cycles to needy rural school girls. The sheer joy on faces of the girls is a scene to watch when they get their cycles for travel safely from home to school and back. The cycles are donated to the school and the girls get to use them as long as they are in school. The cycles serves as a key vehicle for the girls in completing their school education.
